Lleyton Hewitt plays a big bloody game in the third round of the Australian Open. The 3rd round of the 2012 Australian Open was always going to be a hard game for Hewitt. Being 9 years older than his opponent, he had to use his tennis starts and not just brute force. Hewitt’s opponent Milos Raonic has a massive serve and a big hitting game.
If this was to be compared to Mario tennis, it would be like a match between Mario and Donkey Kong. Having a first serve averaging over 200 km/h Milos was always going to be hard to beat. Raonic’s serve was match for Hewitt’s impressive ground strokes from the baseline. Years of experience has overcome new fresh tennis blood.
In a game lasting over 3 hours and 4 sets, it was a fantastic game to watch. Spectators were on the edge of their seats and were clearly behind the Australian. Final score was 6-4 3-6 6-7 3-6. It was a nail biter. A big bloody game was how it was described by Lleyton. There was no holding back. Entering via wildcard due his low ranking, fans had little faith that Hewitt was going to get through to the second week. A 4th round with Novak Djokovic is going to be amazing.
Novak is number 1 in the world for a reason. He demolished his 3rd round opponent and will be out here to defend his title next week. Us Australians have 2 Aussie men through to the 4th round. A fantastic effort in the 2012 Australian Open.
We are predicting a five set thriller next week for Novak Djokovic versus Lleyton Hewitt. What are your thoughts in the up coming match.
